of Baseless Traffic Stop
Here is the actual map of the event, which mirrors the math & explodes this mythical traffic stop even further into oblivion.

I have to take more valuable time out of my days to drive back during daylight hours (with my trusty camera of course), and get actual footage that will further prove this baseless, stunningly egregious traffic stop, in addition to the video footage you already have watched.
My mail box is filling up with folks who were also scammed like this, with this pacing charge, so keep telling us your story!
We should have the map linked in by Wednesday, January 20th, 2010.

You should pay attention to the 1:02 mark of your daytime follow up video. That is where the town limits of Lacrosse begin. Looks like you were paced out of town, then pulled once in Lacrosse. Is that normal ?

Thanks for the heads up, and I appreciate the attention to that detail.
I was never ‘paced’, nor was I doing 64 in a 50, and my cruise was working and set at 50, as evidenced by the video proof, so it all has a ‘foul odor’ regardless of the town name.

I lived in that town it is a speed trap zone if you look in the follow up video they sit at the 1.06 point in the video in the median strip at the mobile home co.
I do not think it is normal. You can read the sign in the video. Looks like he was out of his jurisdiction to begin with during the pacing if he was pulled over just after crossing the line. I am sure the line is on a map somewhere.
you are exactly right– people are pulled over numerous times in that exact town. they target out-of-towners– the town makes money off of these exact people that don’t fight it or know how to fight it — in fact they had a article in the paper awhile back about the local business complaining about the police bothering the customers because they were pulling so many people over in there parking lots and disturbing their business –look into that it was in the Enterprise Paper

You map seems accurate enough. Look again at where you marked him turning his lights on. That is where Lacrosse begins. He was not even in his town when he paced you. That seems funny to me.
Are you suing WAVY-10 ? They gots some esplaining to do. At least a pubic apology.

Just a point of interest… 3&1/2 tenths of the 5 tenths was
in South Hill. The 2 towns have had problems about that
in the past.
Some of the comments are wrong…they will pull a local as
quick as an out of towner. I can’t say if they are speeding
or not because I don’t know. I do know that a friend of my
daughter left Applebys & stopped at the same light (just a
few yards & all in South Hill). The LaCrosse police came up
behind her and turned his light on. She waited for the light
to change, then went thru the light and pulled over. The
LaX Policeman told her he had checked her doing 60 in a 55.
If she had not shown him a receipt from Applebys with the
time (2 min. earlier), she would have gotten a ticket. Also,
this same girl’s husband got a ticket there under questionable
circumstances.
Unless they’ve changed it recently, you pay nothing if a case
is dismissed. If you’re found guilty, but the court gives you a
break and doesn’t fine you, then you pay court cost. It’s
been about 6 years since my daughter got a ticket when
she wrecked. I paid nothing when the case was dismissed.
All it cost me was for her lawyer.
To be fair to the LaX police, if they don’t write enough tickets,
I suspect they won’t last long. Not a good excuse, but jobs
are hard to find.
Correction: 60 in 50 mile zone.
If you pause the video at 1.01, that green sign is the
line. The line is at an angle there. The westbound lane
has the sign farther east.
I just noticed, the tab for this page says speed trap South Hill & LaCrosse. I really hate to see it put that way. Even thou part of this started in South Hill, it was the La Crosse PD that did it.
South Hill has one of the best PD’s in the state if not the best.
I live in La Crosse, well out of town, but I know the Police in SH.
Couldn’t even name the one who gave you the ticket in LaX.
Just hate to see even a hint that SHPD is in on the speed trap
thing. (not since the 50″s)
I have been an over the road truck driver for 10 years. There is no question that Virginia as a state is willing to compromise justice for a profit. Virginia is not a particularly industrious state. they rely on entitlements and of course the recenue from trumped up tickets. They once gave me a ticket for 77 dollars because i was 1200 pounds over wieght on one axil tandem. I was way under legal groos weight. No other state would give a ticket for so minor an offense, or so low a price. the are little more then bums scratching for crumbs. Other states have equally low standardised test scores, but they live and axt within there means. Virginia deliberaltly fails to put up proper signage for the purpose of handing out tickets and making money. For now, I will hold back on the heavier proof, but I hope every one brings legal action against the stateoif ignorance, that is the state of Virginia. If we cut them off from the easy money the will go back and finish high school. At least the smartest 10 percent will. The they can become productive members of the USA.
If you want to verify your speed even a third way, get a gps and most will tell your your mph and it is usually accurate with-in 3mph. From the video, that cop will probably say there is something wrong with the satellite or some baloney
speed traps are ridiculous. i`ve hit one on the way to the beach the cop was sitting right beside the sigh when it said city limit 35 and i was in a 45 mph zone so right when i started to slow down he pulled and then asked my why was i slowing down for?. so when i travel ill never go through a small town cuss that how the bring in the cash…. but i have ever heard of pacing? i mean if your doing 50 the cops has to do at lest 60-65 to catch up to you right
Lacrosse has been a well known speed trap for many years. I was stoped while traveling eastbound and told I was going 15 over the speed limit. This was my first such ticket in 55 years of safe driving. The cop was on the opposite side in a parking lot. A large angle from my direction of travel would have made any reading totally unreliable because of cosene effect error as applied to traffic radar. There is not much chance this will change as long as the money finds it’s way back to the pocket of the cop writing the ticket.
